In recent months in rangefinderforum, much has been written about digital vs. film. Twenty years ago I quit working as a Photojournalist, and in 2003 bought a small Canon digital. Tho' I'll pick up any appropriate tool to do the job, it has taken me a year to discover this:
For Reflection, Joy and feeling a part of Photographic History, it is black & white film in a rangefinder camera. The keyword here is feeling.

I think that's spot on. To me different cameras evoke specific associations and feelings. They carry within them the seeds of pictures and somehow have personalities which interact with our own. The miraculous perfection of a screwmount Leica - as dazzling now as in 1932 - the robust crudity of a FED 1 - each seems to point to a particular approach, but as always, one which can only take form in the heart. The keyword is feeling!
Thanks so much Ian, for your comments. And, I like your choice of words, "the miraculous perfection of a screwmount Leica - as dazzling now as in 1932 - the robust crudity of a FED 1." I've written more in the LTM Forum in rangefinderforum; See, LEICA, NEW YORKER ARTICLE & LEVIS JEANS.
Cheers, Mike
